  • Meadow sod™ is a revolutionary product that provides you with a beautiful flowering meadow from day one, without the hassle and expense of planting and maintaining individual plants. Meadow sod™ is composed of native grasses and wildflowers that are specially selected to thrive in your region and attract pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects. Meadow sod™ is also weed-free, drought tolerant, and low maintenance, saving you time, money, and water.

Most importantly, meadow sod™ empowers any individual to address the challenges of climate change within their own front yard. By choosing meadow sod™, you are not only enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your property, but contributing to key environmental benefits such as carbon sequestration, water conservation, soil protection, as well as biodiversity and pollinator support.

  • Meadow sod provides numerous environmental benefits compared to the traditional lawn. The use of native grasses and flowering species isn’t just pretty to look at but provides valuable pollinator and habitat value for a variety of species and offers much greater biodiversity and thus resilience.

The selected native species decrease the need for irrigation and fertilization, due to their ability to withstand drought and poor soils, while reducing stormwater runoff and improving overall water quality.

A well-maintained meadow has proven to provide greater carbon sequestration than shrubs through their extensive root system and soil-building capacity. We use locally produced compost within our growing media, diverting food waste from the landfill and reusing it to rebuild soils.

  • Meadow sod™ provides a mature, weed-free meadow from day one and at one-third the cost of potted plants. Our use of locally generated compost diverts food-waste from landfills, while smothering existing weed-seed through a tightly knit carpet of native plants. Installation is quick and efficient, while maintenance is minimal.

Any experienced horticulturist will tell you that seeding a meadow with native plants requires significant preparation, patience, and maintenance over the first 3-years through establishment. On top of that, the market is flooded with poor quality “wildflower” seed blends; including those with locally invasive or predominantly annual species aimed at achieving a flush of color the first year and floundering the next. Most throw up their hands in frustration after the first year because it looks nothing like they expected.

Potted plants, including plugs, trays, quarts, and gallon containers, provide mature plants on day one at a high environmental and financial cost. Covering large areas with container plants requires a high degree of manual labor and a sea of mulch and mowing over the first year to ensure establishment. Also, the nursery trade is still highly reliant on mined resources for their soil blends and fossil-fuel-dependent plastics with 95-98% of them ending up in the landfill.

  • We provide a comprehensive suite of services to ensure your meadow thrives: including sod production, installation, and maintenance.

We grow a variety of sods are grown at our farm in Beverly with custom blends available upon request.

Our installation team provides a site assessment and quote before any work begins. When you’re ready, we’ll remove your existing turf and replace it with meadow sod all within one week. Watering is critical within the first 2 weeks for the establishment and is provided as a part of the installation.

Meadows can be much lower maintenance compared to lawns, but they do require occasional routine maintenance from trained horticulturalists from time to time.
